A few years ago I woke up in the middle of the night and walked out into the backyard because I remembered the meteor shower that was in progress. It was more humbling than standing on a deserted beach in November, looking out at the endless ocean. This year I was going to share that with my kids. For two days I reminded myself over and over again and then last night, when it was supposed to peak….Nothing. We didn’t even see one.
Somewhere while standing outside looking at the gazillion stars, the boys mixed the word “meteor” with “asteroid” and started talking about how funny it would be to get hit in the head with a tiny one while looking up. Or how a bigger one could hit the house and then we could buy a new one with the insurance money. Ahh, kids.
My new found holiday friend is Silk Soymilk NOG. It is very much worth the 90 calories per half a cup. It tastes just like the real stuff, but not heavy……like the real stuff. Add a little rum, you won’t care if its the real stuff!
